Hatfield showcased at AquaSur

Jun 07, 2007

Hatfield Consultants Ltd. (Hatfield) hosted a booth at AquaSur, the largest aquaculture event in the Southern Hemisphere, from March 22nd – 25th in Puerto Montt Chile. Hatfield was promoting Earth-observation (EO) based products and services for the rapidly growing aquaculture industry developed under a European Space Agency (ESA) funded project called the Chilean Aquaculture Project (CAP). The event generated significant interest from government regulators, as well as industry representatives from the salmon and mussel industries.

Hatfield, in collaboration with ACRI-st and Apolloni Virtual Studios (AVS), has implemented a service within the CAP project that integrates EO, in situ and environmental data within a web portal. Customized products that can be generated on a daily basis through the CAP portal include: chlorophyll-a pigment concentrations; Sea Surface Temperature (SST); transparency (Secchi depth); and Suspended Particulate Matter (SPM).

This project was made possible through funding provided by the European Space Agency (ESA) under the Call for Innovative Earth Observation Market Development Actions (EOMD).
